Duck & Hiram/Leaving On A Jet Plane
In the beginning of Duck and Hiram's Big Adventure to New Orleans in 2000, we had decided to meet at the airport in Lexington, Kentucky a little early to begin our preperation for the flight. After a few choice beverages it was time to board the plane. After we had been seated a few minutes, Hiram asked the stewardess for some cookies or something else to eat. She replied that she was busy and would get around to it. Hiram has diabetes and was starting to feel ill by the time she came back. He asked her again and her reply was that she didn't have time to do that for him but would check on him after we were in the air.
We were headed for the runway when Hiram told me to get help. I approached another stewardess to explain the situation as the first attendent was yelling at me to take my seat. The second stewardess immediately checked on Hiram and then went to the cockpit. The next thing I knew the pilot announced that someone onboard was ill and they were trying to contact a doctor. The stewardess brought Hiram a pack of Gummy Bears from the pilot's lunchbox. After 20 minutes they came and took Hiram into the pilot's cockpit. The natives were getting restless after an hour of sitting on the runway when the first stewardess told me the pilot wanted to see me. As I entered his domain the stewardess said, "This is Mr. Hogg's traveling companion". The pilot got a doctor on his radio and after he spoke with Hiram and myself the pilot asked us to take our seats. One bag of chips and a diet pop later we lifted off with only a 1:45 minute delay.
